Transportation in Pakistan is wide and diverse, with a population of over 212.2 million. With this growing population, it is very important to provide comfortable transportation to the people so that they can make their daily journey very easily.

With the aim to provide a safe, proficient and relaxed urban transportation system and reduce the growing bottleneck problems in Lahore. Punjab Mass transit Authority has a reputable Bus Rapid Transit System in Lahore known as Lahore Metro bus System. The Metro bus System Line-1 from Gajjumata to Shahdara, established in Lahore, is the first system operated by PMA and bus System Line-1 from Khumrahwala to BZU established in Multan.

Lahore Metro bus Company is integrated with Lahore Transport Company’s local bus service to work together in the urban transport system, providing seamless transit service across Lahore District with connections to neighboring suburban communities. The Lahore Metro bus was designed to be opened in stages, with the primary stage opening on 11 February 2013 stretching from Gajjumata to Shahdara. The 27 km stretch was opened during a ceremony by Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif alongside Deputy Prime Minister of Turkey Bekir Bozdag. 

Metro Bus System Features and Standards:

Metro bus has planned to use a fleet of 180 plus, 18-meter-long high-floor buses, each bus has a seating capacity of 38 passengers. However, it is spacious and has a vast capacity for standing passengers, which can accommodate 150 people. The articulated buses will run only on our Service route, Buses arrive every 5 minutes throughout peak hours, and every 7 minutes during non-peak hours.

People can easily pass through the bus door at a time. The buses are diesel-electric plug-in hybrids, which allow them to improve overall fuel economy and lower smoke emissions and allow charging stations to recharge batteries. All buses are environmentally friendly and aim to reduce emissions and pollution. Metro buses are Standard buses with comfortable seats for passengers to travel restfully on which they can easily enjoy a pleasant journey. Metro bus stations have clean toilets for the passengers.

The 27km, two lanes, 10-meter-wide road has been prepared with a speed capacity of 60km/h. However, the speed limit has been fixed at 40km/h. The project has 104 escalators and 664 platform doors.

Lahore is the 2nd main city of Pakistan with a probable population of around 10 million. The 66 Articulated Air-Conditioned vehicles are registered in Lahore in metro bus with Two Lane, Limited Access Passageway, which is from Gajjumata to Shahdara (27 Km) and have 27 Stations in which 18 at ground and 9 at elevated. The Platform has the Sliding doors, Escalators etc. The Portion from Canal to Data Darbar is elevated (8.3km/h). The Automated Fare Collection System is established in which Fares are collected via an automated ticketing system that is also intended to be used on all city routes. You can also get tickets on cash from the counter, whereas you are traveling in this bus can also avail the facility of a Card in which you can pay the fare of our ticket with this card by debit the amount in card from time to time. You can see on the screen inside the bus which station is coming next and where the bus is passing now. A 3.8 km portion of the track is elevated, and two rotaries have been constructed at Jain mandir and MAO College with one roundabout between them.
